SHARED POWERPOINTS ON ALL SUBJECTS
SLIDESHARE
I use this a lot because they load easily and in many cases save me the time of creating my own Ppts. I use apple shift 4 to capture any that I like and want to use without the net eg If a room has slow internet access.

This is a Web 2.0 presentation shared by Daryl Cartwright at the Video capture session on Monday 30th August 2010. It looks very interesting
SHARED POWERPOINTS is a site where teachers in a wide range of subjects have put their powerpoints online. Easy to adapt for your own use. Why re-invent the wheel?
Educational Origami is a blog , and a wiki, about the integration of ICT into the classroom, this is one of the largest challenges that I feel we as teachers face. Its about 21st Century Learning and 21st Century Teaching. Marc Prensky coined the now popular and famous phrase "Digital natives and digital immigrants" in his two papers by the same name. Ian Jukes talks about Digital Children.
MAPWING
Now this application has huge potential for learning. If students have a sequence of images they can create virtual journeys that explain, link, connect and demonstrate.
VIDEO CAPTURE of IMAGES FROM DVDS
On the 22nd May, 2009, I presented a session on Video capture to 150 History teachers at Auckland University. I am sharing this with MAGS Staff because I can give you hands-on help and do think that it is such a good idea. You only need a bit of software called VLC Player. or DVD Player. I have recently followed this sequence with a video:
1. Show video with key ideas organised on the whiteboard as they watch. As they get better students can do this themselves
2. Show Powerpoint of captured still images from the video that connect with the key ideas. I use 4 images per slide.
3. Same content explained on Powerpoint - students write key points paragraph by paragraph
4. Students write introduction to an essay on the same topic
5. Feedback in class on essay introduction student by student
This is based on the premise of giving students at least 4 engagements with the same content over 24 hours.
BE FUNKY
The first one enables you to alter images that you have on your computer and does not require a download. I have been running sessions on capturing images form DVD for use in sequencing. Once I have the images I am now able to alter them and then add speech bubbles and the like. This gives me a whole raft of new activities to offer the students and also to get them to use also. BE FUNKY
Be Funky is such a cool tool!
I like using comics in education, they appeal to the visual and kinesthetic learner, they are cross curricula, flexible and captivating. here are some of the comic creation resources I have found.
